Your time in port in Aruba will be well spent on this Essence of Aruba shore excursion. You'll start by discovering the history of Aruba's 160-year-old aloe industry. As you tour the Aruba Aloe Factory and Museum, soak up the culture that surrounds the "biggest little plant on the island." You'll visit the plantation where farmers harvest the aloe gel using a centuries-old technique. Then, you can walk through the factory where chemists formulate and produce the world's leading lotions and other skin products.
Next, head to the Aruhiba Cigar Factory, a family-owned tobacco plantation. Join Mr Petrochi and members of his family as they tell you about the extensive process used to produce their high-quality, handmade cigars. Then it's on to the Balashi Beer Brewery, winner of two gold medals from the "Monde Selection" in Brussels. Balashi beer is one of Aruba's proudest products. On this private tour, you will hear about Aruba's beer history and get a bird's-eye view of the brewing process from the gangway above the production area. Then, of course, it's what you've been waiting for - a sample of the beer.
Your last stop will be at the Pinturitic Kunukoe House, where you'll taste a local delight, Aruban rum, blended from an old Aruban recipe. You won't want to get back on your ship without a bottle in hand.
